Sam is a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Asia; that means she has the same degree as Martin Scorsese. Over her career as a filmmaker she has made short films on four continents. 
 

Sam has been working in commercials since 2019 with brands like: Nando’s, Showmax, TOPS at Spar, and Ryobi. In 2023 her debut feature film, Do Your Worst, premiered globally on Netflix and charted in the top 10 in South Africa.

Her shorts have premiered at major film festivals including the Director's Fortnight at Cannes, Durban International Film Festival and Locarno. Her accolades include Best Short Film at the Africa International Film Festival and a nomination for a Brazilian Academy Award (how that happened is kind of a long story).
